Piperacillin with tazobactam
Piperacillin sodium exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting septum formation and cell wall synthesis.
Thus, piperacillin/tazobactam combines the properties of a broad-spectrum antibiotic and a β-lactamase inhibitor
Usage:Adults – 4.5 g , 8 hourly for 7 to 14 days. slow intravenous infusion over 30 min.
Pediatrics (< 12 years)- Safety and efficacy in children below the age of 12 years have not been established.
